The Citadelles du Vin has awarded the 2014 Ziraldo Estate Vidal Icewine the Special Award at Vinexpo 2017.
Twenty seven years ago one of the world’s most prestigious wine awards, the Grand Prix d’Honneur, was given to the Inniskillin 1989 Vidal Icewine and made Canadian wine history. This Icewine was vinified by co-founder Karl Kaiser and the award was received in 1991 by Cofounder Donald Ziraldo at Vinexpo in Bordeaux, France.

We are proud to release the first vintage of Estate grown Icewine from the Victoria Vineyard with this 2014 Riesling Icewine. This is the first Icewine produced from the Victoria Vineyard which was planted in 2007 on the original Inniskillin Winery site in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This exclusively Riesling vineyard is planted on a gently rolling hillside of sandy loam terroir with five Riesling clones on four different rootstock. Ziraldo Icewine is made to the highest standards of quality, grown using sustainable practices and exemplifies the true character of the Niagara region. Riesling is the classic Icewine varietal first produced in Germany in the 1700’s.

Aquilam; L'édition 2012 Aquilam a été présenté à un groupe de journalistes et sommeliers lors d'un dîner spécial à The Aspen Food and Wine Classic. Il a reçu des critiques élogieuses et nous nous réjouissons de ce super portugais, comme nous l'avons appelé ce vin étant disponible au Québec.
“AQUILAM” (EAGLE in Latin) refers to the golden eagles adorning the front gates of the São Pedro das Águias (EAGLE in Portuguese) Monastery in the Douro Valley, Tavora Portugal where Senhora do Convento wines are made.
AQUILAM is a blend of 50% Touriga Nacional and 50% Tinta Roriz, also known as Tempernillo grown on the Estate, then aged for 16 months in new French oak barrels and bottled February 2013. A deep ruby colour with intense black fruit aromas and spices. Round and structure with a well-balanced acidity and ripe tannins.

Deep ruby colour with intense black fruit aromas. Round soft tannins and a balanced finish make this wine lovely for pairing with food. Pair with pork, game and strong cheeses. Blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roiz and Touriga Franca from estate.
