The Citadelles du Vin has awarded the 2014 Ziraldo Estate Vidal Icewine the Special Award at Vinexpo 2017.
Twenty seven years ago one of the world’s most prestigious wine awards, the Grand Prix d’Honneur, was given to the Inniskillin 1989 Vidal Icewine and made Canadian wine history. This Icewine was vinified by co-founder Karl Kaiser and the award was received in 1991 by Cofounder Donald Ziraldo at Vinexpo in Bordeaux, France.
“This is certainly a great honour once again from the Vinexpo competition acknowledging Canadian icewine as one of the great wines of the world"
- Donald Ziraldo, Ziraldo Estate Winery
“The Ziraldo Estate 2014 Vidal Icewine was first tasted with other icewines from all over the world, it obtained a Gold Medal. And among all the Canadian gold medals, your wine obtained the best mark and thus the Canada Special Prize. So in a few words, it’s the best of the best.”
- Béatrice Blachier, Citadelle du Vin
The Special Prizes are awarded to the wines having obtained the best grade in their category
